Late relief as Exiles claim another point

NEWPORT County are safe from the threat of relegation.

They battled to a second stalemate of the Easter weekend as they held promotion-chasing Walsall despite ending the game with 10 men after Ciaran Brennan was sent off.
But it was enough to confirm their League Two safety with Carlisle only drawing.
The Exiles are now winless in seven but, after a creditable 0-0 draw at MK Dons on Friday, this was another point gained for Nelson Jardim's men - especially after Walsall had a stoppage-time winner correctly ruled out for handball by Oisin McEntee.
The visitors dominated early on and Jamie Jellis headed wide in the second minute before Nathan Asiimwe fired shot straight at Nick Townsend.
County were slow to get going as an attacking force, but Bobby Kamwa did head a Joe Thomas cross wide as he lost his balance at the far post.
