THE only thing Joey Bray remembers from the crash that “could have killed” him is medics cutting him out of his motorcycle gear as he lay on the side of the road.

- TAITE JOHNSON Reporter

Joey crashed his motorcycle into a signpost at 45mph on his way home from work on August 18, only 10 minutes from his home in Llanelli.

The information from the accident that the 40-year-old has is what police officers told him after he was stabilised at University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff, where he was treated for multiple broken ribs, a fractured scapula, a fractured neck, a collapsed lung and a bleed on the brain following the crash.

Witnesses driving behind the motorcyclist said he began to veer off the road and drove into a signpost. Joey has no recollection of the incident or what led to it.

On waking up with no memory of the accident he said: “I was so disorientated, I could hardly breathe. Before I actually came to, I could feel them cutting off my motorcycle helmet and gear. Then they moved me onto a stretcher and moved me into the ambulance.”

Joey returned to his home of Llanelli in 2024 after living in Northern Ireland.

He said moving back was a hard decision for him but one he had to make to take care of his parents.

After suffering multiple strokes, Joey's father has been “battling” with dementia that has seen his health decline.
