WALES' most-capped and all-time greatest goal scorer Jess Fishlock was last night revealed as the famous mystery runner in the iconic Nos Galan races in Mountain Ash.

Football legend Fishlock leads Nos Galan race

The famous New Year's Eve road racen is routinely a sellout event and sees 1,700 runners cheered on by 10,000 spectators.

Just a few weeks after her final international football match, Fishlock was in the Cynon Valley town to start the race and lead the runners.

She has more caps for her country than any other Welsh player and has scored 48 goals for Wales in international football, beating Gareth Bale and all others who came before her.

Cllr Ann Crimmings of the Nos Galan Road Races Committee said: "Nos Galan Road Races is a family event, an evening of tradition, legend and sporting inspiration.
