Drakeford said to have compared PM to Andrew

Mark Drakeford with Sir Keir Starmer in 2022

Mr Drakeford, a former First Minister and the current Welsh Government finance secretary, reportedly made the comments at an event in Cardiff.

As reported in Politico, its editor Dan Bloom said he was told by two people that Mr Drakeford made the comment at an event organised by the Fabian Society, a left-leaning think-tank.

As well as unease in the Labour ranks about his performance, the Prime Minister has had poor poll ratings for some time.

In a recent poll of Labour members, only a third thought he should lead the party into the next general election.

Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, the King’s brother, has been at the centre of allegations linked to paedophile Jeffrey Epstein.

He has been stripped of his princely title and HRH style.
