Couple told to erect ‘privacy screen’ in shed planning row
Western Mail
|October 29, 2025
A COUPLE have been ordered to put up a fence to block their neighbours’ view after building a luxury shed in their garden without planning permission, sparking fury among those living nearby.
The shed and decking built without planning permission
‘The shed, which boasts a floor-toceiling glass door and a timber pergola over a sprawling seven-metre decking area, was erected on the site of an old greenhouse in the couple’s back garden in Monmouth in September 2023, but neighbours have since lodged complaints forcing the council to step in.
‘After a planning meeting, it was ruled the couple must take action following concerns from neighbours about the height of the structure.
Inside, the shed is kitted out with a sofa and workstations, and applicant Llinos Ndlovu explained in her bid that the narrow room, measuring just 2.74m from front to back, was put up to meet her and her husband's homeworking requirements.
