County looking to start climbing the League Two table

NEWPORT County aim to build on last week's FA Cup victory over Gillingham by starting their climb up the League Two table this afternoon.

County hope to drag themselves off the bottom of the EFL by collecting three points at Rodney Parade for the first time since March 15.

But they know that will be no easy task against league leaders Walsall, who remain top despite losing their last two league games against Barrow and Cheltenham Town.

The Exiles lost their last home league match to Cheltenham three weeks ago, but that chastening defeat was sandwiched by impressive victories on the road at Accrington Stanley and Harrogate Town.

And, after a dramatic penalty shootout win over the Gills last time out, manager David Hughes (pictured) believes his side can keep building on that momentum.
