Rovers get first chance to impress new boss Evans

NEW Bristol Rovers manager Steve Evans seems to have impressed the fanbase with his first words since taking over the job this week.

But he and the Gas both know words mean nothing and results are vital.Evans was appointed as the new Rovers manager on Tuesday following Darrell Clarke's departure on Saturday after a record extending tenth successive League Two defeat in a row.

That left Rovers down in 23rd spot and in the relegation zone. For a club that Evans says has the third or fourth biggest budget in the division it is clearly not up to the required standard.

If the Pirates lose to Crewe tonight then they will spend Christmas Day in the bottom two, and that is not a place where they want to be. But having not won a league match since September 27, and having lost ten in a row, and against a side sitting in eighth placed and who have lost just once in two months, it won't be easy.
