Fears for landscapes could threaten motor rally

A POPULAR motor rally event on West Country roads faces opposition this year from the bodies which look after designated scenic parts of Herefordshire.

Centred on Ledbury, the Hills Ford Stages are due to be held across the weekend of September 13-14, with a ceremonial start in the town on the preceding Friday evening.
But “both the Wye Valley and Malvern Hills National Landscape teams are concerned that the rally could harm the special qualities of these nationally designated landscapes”, according to planning officer for the landscapes Catherine Laidlaw.
