The historic Swan Hotel in Wells, whose first guests arrived on horseback way back in the year 1422, has marked a new chapter in its illustrious history with the official reopening of its new reception, restaurant and bar areas.

It was the first official duty for Wells’ new Mayor Councillor Louis Agabani who performed a ribbon-cutting ceremony accompanied by the Mayoress Mary-Ellen Nowell and later pulled the first pint. The hotel was a favourite with Sir Winston Churchill who visited three times.
