Education partnership to help bolster schools’ rugby

THE RFU is joining forces with ICE Education to deliver a national programme of support for school rugby leaders across England.

The partnership is the next step in the RFU’s work to significantly grow the game in the education sector, following the recommendations of a Schools’ Rugby Review, conducted independently and published last year.

The initiative will strengthen the presence and impact of rugby across maintained, independent, and prep schools, ensuring the sport continues to play a vital role in educational institutions around the country.

This programme aims to reach 1,000 rugby-playing schools within the next two years, helping headteachers, governors, and directors of sport confidently lead and advocate for the game within their establishments.

The partnership is designed to preserve rugby as a central activity in schools with a history of playing the game, while also enabling school leaders to better understand and communicate the benefits of the game.
