Nedbank Cup final: Five crucial player duels to watch
Weekend Argus on Saturday
|May 10, 2025
AS the Soweto Derby headlines the Nedbank Cup final today at Moses Mabhida Stadium at 3.30pm, much of the spotlight will fall on the tactical nous of both benches.
But equally, it's the individual duels across the pitch that could prove decisive in shaping who lifts the trophy.
Football writer SMISO MSOMI takes a look at five key battles to keep a close eye on:
1. Relebohile Mofokeng vs Dillon Solomons
One of the breakout stars of the season, Rele Mofokeng's pace and creativity on the wing have added a dynamic layer to Pirates' attack.
The 20 year old thrives in one-on-one situations and will test Solomons' defensive discipline and positional awareness.
Chiefs' fullback has pace to match but will need to be at his sharpest to contain Mofokeng's trickery and prevent overloads down his flank.
2. Thabo Cele vs Thalente Mbatha
