Helping hand after jail release blunder

THE sex offender released by mistake was directed to the railway station by a prison worker, it was claimed yesterday.

Hadush Kebatu was due to be deported to Ethiopia but was let out of HMP Chelmsford on Friday.

A witness says a "very confused" Kebatu, 38, remained outside the prison for more than an hour after his release until a member of staff pointed the way to the station.

The Met Police made a direct appeal to Kebatu to turn himself in - and disclosed he had made a number of train journeys across London since being freed.
