Misconduct panel: PC cleared in trials did assault woman

A POLICE misconduct panel has ruled that a former Met officer seriously sexually assaulted a woman, 21 years after the incident.

Former PC Stephen Kyere, 59, was found not guilty of rape in a criminal retrial at the Old Bailey in May 2023.

Police investigated the case when the complainant reported it immediately after the incident in 2004 but it did not lead to charges.

It was only reopened after the woman wrote to her MP to complain when Met Police Commissioner Cressida Dick ignored a letter she sent in 2018.

Kyere, then 37, was off duty when he met the woman, 23, at the Oceana club in Kingston-upon-Thames, West London, early on April 13, 2004.
