Leadbeater's bill goes back to Commons on June 20

THE private member's bill to legalise assisted dying is sponsored by Kim Leadbeater, Labour MP for Spen Valley, West Yorks, and was introduced to the House of Commons last October.

The next month MPs voted it through to the committee stage by 330 to 275 at its second reading.

If it passes its third reading on June 20 it goes to the House of Lords for consideration.

The bill would mean mentally competent adults who have less than six months to live can choose assisted dying.
