Jab warning Poisoning risk of cheap beauty treatments

A COSMETICS watchdog has issued an urgent warning after a number of people ended up in hospital following beauty injections.

They were treated last week for suspected botulism poisoning - a life-threatening infection that can be caused by cheap, unlicensed products.

The small number of cases were all linked to the same salon in Leeds, which has advertised cut-price deals.

Ashton Collins, director of Save Face, a government-backed register of approved practitioners, said: “This reinforces our long-standing concerns that some providers are administering prescription-only injectables without valid prescriptions or appropriate oversight.
