Bihar CM Announces Electricity Relief, Job Drive Ahead of Assembly Elections 2025

As Bihar prepares for its Assembly elections scheduled for October-November this year, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has introduced a significant welfare initiative aimed at reducing the financial burden on electricity consumers across the state. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Kumar declared that beginning August 1, 2025, every domestic electricity consumer in Bihar will receive 125 units of electricity free of charge each month. This measure is anticipated to benefit nearly 1.67 crore households statewide. "We have always been committed to supplying electricity to all residents at affordable rates. To further ease the burden on the public, we have now decided that starting from the bill for the month of July, domestic consumers will not be charged for the first 125 units of electricity," Kumar posted on the platform.
