Thousands without power as wild storm pummels Sydney

A wild weather system pummelled Sydney for a second day on July 2, with the storm forcing the cancellation of dozens of flights, bringing down trees and taking out power to thousands of homes in Australia's south-east.

Qantas Airways and Virgin Australia — Australia's biggest airlines — have in total cancelled at least 55 domestic flights in and out of Sydney on July 2, the airport's website showed. Some international flights have been delayed.
Jetstar said on its website that it is closely monitoring the situation and will contact its customers directly if their flights are delayed or cancelled.
Qantas confirmed that there have been no impact to its flights between Sydney and Singapore as a result of the bad weather.
