Super Salute bounces back to his best in Ipoh

A former nine-time winner in Singapore — including one Group 2 and two Group 3 races — Super Salute was transferred to Malaysian trainer Parama Sivan Veerapen after he ran unplaced in the Group 1 Kranji Mile (1,600m) on May 18, 2024. His last win at Kranji came in the Group 3 New Year Cup (1,200m) on Jan 6, 2024.

The son of I Am Invincible made his Malaysian debut in a Supreme A (1,200m) race in Kuala Lumpur on Jan 12 but could only manage third. In four subsequent attempts at Sungai Besi, including the Group 1 Tunku Gold Cup (1,200m) on March 16, Super Salute remained winless.

Sivan planned to back up the Alan N John Stable-owned galloper in a 1,600m race in Selangor on April 12 but it was cancelled, so he went ahead with plan B in Ipoh.

The former popular lightweight jockey was pleased Super Salute ran up to expectations.
