Manager says it will let wife see a happy man, but warns of tough stretch ahead

REDS' WIN 'SPECIAL' FOR SLOT

Liverpool manager Arne Slot hailed a "special" win, as his team remained top of the English Premier League thanks to Diogo Jota's winner in a 1-0 victory at Crystal Palace on Oct 5.

The Dutchman has now won nine of his first 10 games since succeeding Jurgen Klopp, but will be frustrated that the Reds invited a late onslaught from the winless Eagles.

Victory also came at a cost for Liverpool as goalkeeper Alisson Becker limped off in the closing stages ahead of a much more testing run of fixtures after the international break.

"Mostly for me, it's special," Slot said.

"Players go to their national team and they think of the national team, but for me if I lose it is three to four days of being unhappy. I think my wife will be happy as she will have someone home who is happy.

"Really satisfied with how we started the season. It is a good start, not only the results, but I liked our performance today. There was a period of the game we conceded free kicks and that was a difficult period. For the last 10 minutes, we kept the ball very well."
