Parental leave • Claims processed promptly

|September 06, 2024
We thank Ms Jewel Yi for her feedback, and her support for the new Shared Parental Leave (SPL) scheme (Help SMEs cope with financial strain of shared parental leave, Sept 2).
We understand that cash flow is an important consideration for businesses. At the same time, we also have to ensure timely payment to employees and accountability for use of public funds. The new SPL scheme is designed to balance these considerations carefully.
Paying on a reimbursement basis is a safeguard which ensures the leave is taken as intended before payment is released.
