Her passion for gems and a sophisticated lifestyle drives the success of her business
Diamonds are a girl's best friend, as actress Marilyn Monroe famously sang in the 1950s, a notion that continues to resonate decades later, as jewellery enthusiast Angela Loh well knows.
Ms Loh, 57, is the founder and chief executive officer of luxury lifestyle festival UltraLuxe, which is on now and runs until Oct 13. Jewellery forms her work, her investments, and her personal passion. It is something for which she has her parents to thank.
"My parents have bought me jewellery since I was a baby. I still have my baby bangles in 916 gold, my jade bangle, 916 gold bracelets with charms and little jade pendants," she says.
Ms Loh has also marked milestones in her life with jewellery, including on her 18th birthday, when she got her first diamond, in the form of a 0.25-carat ring, as a gift from her mother.
"I loved the sparkle. It made me feel like a princess, and I always feel such joy every time I look at it," Ms Loh says.
She got her next diamond piece at 21, which made her feel like she had finally grown up.
Ms Loh is chief executive of Advocators & Co, a marketing agency that focuses on the luxury and lifestyle sector. Through various events such as UltraLuxe, the agency helps its clients to expand in the Singapore market while bringing various luxury products to consumers and the trade community.
"My passion is professional and personal. I am blessed that both converge. My love for jewellery and a sophisticated lifestyle has resulted in the creation of a business that is successful," she says.
"I believe in a world abundant with colours, and enriched with the talents and passion of artists, designers and artisans. I find their creations inspiring and elevating."
