'I did everything I could to save her': Namewee on death of influencer

Malaysian rapper and filmmaker Wee Meng Chee, better known as Namewee, says he did everything he could to save Taiwanese influencer Iris Hsieh, but to no avail.

"I saw a human being die before my eyes for the first time. I did everything I could to save her but nothing could be done. This image will remain in my mind forever," Wee said in a Facebook post on Nov 14.
This was the 42-year-old's first public statement since he was released from detention over the police investigation into the death of Ms Hsieh Yu-hsin, also known as Iris Hsieh.
"After nine days in detention, I'm out. This was the longest I've ever been detained," he said.
