Dumbledore, Snape and more roles cast

NEW YORK - Potterheads are one step closer to seeing a television series about boy wizard Harry Potter come to life, two years after it was announced.

HBO said on April 14 that it had cast American actor John Lithgow as Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry's headmaster Albus Dumbledore, as well as British actors Janet McTeer, Paapa Essiedu and Nick Frost as Minerva McGonagall, Severus Snape and Rubeus Hagrid respectively.

Casting for major roles, including the lead teen trio of Harry Potter, Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley, has not been announced, and the series — based on the best-selling books by British author J.K. Rowling — does not have an official title or air date.
