RCB Edge Past Spirited Mumbai in Tense Thriller

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) quelled a spirited yet topsy-turvy run chase by Mumbai Indians to chalk out a 12-run victory in a nail-biting Indian Premier League (IPL) encounter at the Wankhede Stadium on Monday.

Chasing a target of 222 runs, the hosts faltered right at the start with their entire top order back in the dugout with less than 100 runs on the board.

Star batter Rohit Sharma continued his poor run of form as he was totally outfoxed by a sharp inswinger from Yash Dayal, who scalped another vital wicket in the form of the dangerous Suryakumar Yadav.

With the Mumbai Indians batting line-up struggling under the pressure of the formidable target, RCB seemed to be cruising to a fairly comfortable victory.

However, Mumbai skipper Hardik Pandya and Tilak Varma staged a strong fightback with an 89-run stand off just 34 deliveries to raise hopes of an unlikely victory for the hosts.

Varma was the highest scorer for Mumbai with 56 runs off 29 balls. Pandya was also merciless on the RCB bowlers, plundering 42 off 15.
