Nadia’s long and uneasy history with militant networks has resurfaced once again after investigators traced alleged money transfers from the bank account of Sabir Ahmed — a Presidency Jail inmate — during the probe into the recent blast near Delhi’s Red Fort.

The development has renewed fears that extremist elements may still be operating quietly along the district’s porous border with Bangladesh.

STF officers recently detained Sabir’s brother, Faisal Ahmed, from their home in Bara Naldaha of Palashipara and took him to Kolkata for questioning, triggering widespread speculation and tension across the area. Police have since intensified naka-checking across the district, reflecting the heightened alert following the Delhi blast investigation.
