Bombay HC discharges Gautam Adani in market manipulation case

The Bombay High Court discharged Adani Enterprises Ltd Group Chairman Gautam Adani and Managing Director Rajesh Adani on Monday from a case of alleged violations of capital market regulations which supposedly involved Rs 388 crore.
The case involved allegations of market regulation violations amounting to nearly Rs 388 crore and stemmed from concerns about regulatory compliance as well as financial transactions flagged during an investigation by the Serious Fraud Investigation Office (SFIO) in 2012.
Quashing the sessions court order and discharging both Gautam Adani and Rajesh Adani, the Bombay HC's single bench of Justice R N Laddha's order stated that, "A careful evaluation of the submissions and records makes it evident that the complaint fails to satisfy the essential ingredients of the offence of cheating."
