Abhishek forms special teams to support families of SIR-linked suicides across Bengal

Amid mounting panic and tragedy over the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process, the number of reported suicides linked to the issue has been rising across West Bengal.

While two persons are still under treatment in hospital, the Trinamul Congress (TMC) leadership has moved to reach out to the affected families.On the directives of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and the party's national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee, the TMC on Saturday constituted special teams comprising ministers, MPS, MLAs, and student leaders to provide emotional and logistical support to the bereaved families.

Party insiders said Abhishek Banerjee has personally instructed these teams to maintain continuous communication with the affected families and ensure that they receive all possible assistance.

“This is not just about extending sympathy; it is about standing by those who have been driven to despair due to administrative confusion and fear,” a senior TMC functionary said.
