Rebel TMC faction to meet ECI’s bench today amid symbol dispute

The escalating leadership battle within the Trinamul Congress is set to reach the Election Commission of India, with the rebel faction led by Ritabrata Banerjee is scheduled to meet Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and the full bench of the Commission in New Delhi at 12 pm on Thursday, according to sources.

Speaking to the media at Dum Dum airport before going to Delhi, Ritabrata Banerjee said, “We have been granted an appointment with the full bench of the Election Commission at Nirvachan Sadan in New Delhi at 12 noon tomorrow. The Commission has allowed a 10-member delegation from our side to attend the meeting.”
“We had sought the appointment by writing to the Election Commission after 22 June, and it has now been granted. Accordingly, our 10-member delegation will meet the Commission tomorrow,” Banerjee added.
