Ponting supports Head’s move to No.3 for 2025 Ashes

Former Australia captain Ricky Ponting has backed the promotion o Travis Head to the No.3 spo in the batting order as the Kangaroos prepare to hos! England in a gruelling five-Test rubber and retain the coveted Ashes series, later this year.

Ponting, an ICC Hall o Famer, also feels the move would create space for all-rounders Cameron Green and Beau Webster to ba together in the middle order.

“As a young bloke you used to come into the side as a No.5 or No.6 player and eventually you worked your way up and find yourself in a No.3 spot,” Ponting told radio station SEN on Monday.

“So they could think about doing that with Travis Head, they could move him up to No.3.

“The way England play their cricket, to have someone ike Travis Head coming in at No.3 and be able to put some pressure back on the likes of Jofra Archer and Mark Wood and these guys, hat’s another way they could ook at it if they really want to get on the front foot and try and dominate England through this Ashes summer.”
