Country Club turns debt-free, to tap new Asian locations, to focus on wildlife tourism

The 36-year-old Country Club Hospitality and Holidays Ltd, that revolutionized India's leisure landscape by introducing the concept of all-inclusive membership services for recreation and hospitality, is now looking at new properties at new locations within the country and outside.

Country Club, which has recently wiped off its entire debt of Rs 600 crore to become a debt-free company, at present operates and manages 75 properties across India, will now take this number up to 100 over the next one year including some of the overseas properties, Y Rajeev Reddy, CMD of Country Club Hospitality & Holidays Ltd, told The Statesman.

The new geographies that the company is looking at include Bangkok, Thailand, Singapore, Kualalumpur, Sri Lanka and some other Asian locations of tourism interest. The company has already marked its footprint in Sri Lanka and the response, so far, has been very good, said Reddy.
