SDC Funds Remain Unutilised in Rayagada, ₹30 Lakh Returned to Government

In a glaring example of administrative apathy and failure, the Special Development Council (SDC) in tribal-dominated Rayagada district has come under fire after failing to utilise government funds meant for tribal welfare.
As a result, ₹30 lakh out of ₹60 lakh sanctioned for solar lighting projects in remote villages has been returned to the government.
The SDC, formed during the previous BJD regime with the stated goal of ensuring development of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes, appears to have turned defunct and ineffective in recent years. Despite the allocation of significant financial grants, little to no development has reached the intended beneficiaries, residents alleged.
