Probe into Soumyashree death finds CCTV footage of a girl buying petrol

The Crime Branch, along with a team from the University Grants Commission (UGC) and the Higher Education Department, has accessed CCTV footage from a petrol pump near Fakir Mohan (Autonomous) College as part of its investigation into the tragic self-immolation of Soumyashree Bishi, a second-year Integrated B.Ed student.
Soumyashree had reportedly poured petrol on herself and set herself ablaze after her repeated complaints of mental and sexual harassment by the Head of her department allegedly went unaddressed.
The investigators believe the petrol used in the incident may have been purchased from a nearby fuel station. CCTV footage reportedly shows a girl, face covered with a cloth, filling petrol in a bottle. This is suspected to be the same fuel used in the fatal act.
