Prime Minister Modi accused the TMC-led government in West Bengal of indulging in appeasement politics

- STATESMAN NEWS SERVICE

Launching a sharp attack on the Trinamool Congress-led West Bengal government, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday described it as a "Nirmam Sarkar" (ruthless government) while addressing a public rally. He criticised the state's handling of recent riots in Malda and Murshidabad and alleged widespread corruption in the teachers' recruitment process.

Without directly naming chief minister Mamata Banerjee, the Prime Minister accused the TMC government of indulging in appeasement politics and giving miscreants a free hand. "Elected representatives, including councillors and MLAs, were seen participating in the violence while the police stood as mute spectators," he said. "People have now lost faith in this government. The public outcry is loud and clear—'Jonotar chitkar, nirmam sarkar'," Modi added, echoing slogans raised during the rally.

Attacking the government over the teachers' recruitment scam, the Prime Minister said: "This scam has shattered the hopes of thousands of educated youths who were eligible for teaching jobs. The TMC government has completely destroyed West Bengal's education system."

He further alleged that the government not only indulged in massive corruption but also shielded its leaders involved in scams—from teacher recruitment irregularities to other financial misdeeds.
