The animal kingdom is as fascinating, as it is similar.

- MOHUL BHATTACHARYA

There are different forms, structures, and various relationships in their societies as well. There are two such examples we can see; both big, energetic, and very intelligent.A matriarch in human society is defined as an “older woman who is powerful within a family or organization,” and this definition is equally sufficient for elephants. The core elephant family group will often be led by an older, more knowledgeable female elephant. The matriarch will decide which direction to go, where to feed, and how to respond to potential threats.

Tuskers

Elephants are highly social animals and, much like humans, they often look up to strong, wise, and charismatic leaders to guide them. In elephant family groups, this role is played by the matriarch. Usually, the oldest and largest female elephant, bears the weight of making critical decisions, from determining when and where to move to how to react over potential dangers. The sheer ecological knowledge that older matriarchs have in the wild are lifesaving, and sometimes is the line between food and starvation. Hence, the young males are encouraged to leave their families at the age of 12-15 years; sometimes they leave under considerable pressure as they are not ready to leave the social security of the family. Other times, the young males are eager for freedom as they enter adult male society.
