Governor Kambhampati champions Renewable Energy

Odisha Governor Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati has called on citizens to embrace renewable energy, highlighting its role in reducing pollution, cutting dependence on imported crude oil, and securing a sustainable future.

Speaking at a press conference at Raj Bhavan, Dr. Kambhampati underscored the urgent need to transition from conventional energy to green alternatives in transport. "Every ride now contributes to a quieter, cleaner, and more responsible tomorrow. It's more than a choice—it's the path we've chosen to follow," he said.

Raj Bhavan, Bhubaneswar, is leading by example. A 150-kilowatt solar power plant is already operational on the premises, with another 400 kilowatts in the pipeline. The initiative aims to make the Governor's residence a net-zero energy campus. Additionally, a fleet of electric vehicles—ranging from official cars to two-wheelers—has been introduced, all made in India.

Dr. Kambhampati also highlighted major central government schemes promoting renewable energy like PM-KUSUM Yojana: Supporting farmers in adopting solar-powered irrigation systems and PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana: Offering household subsidies for rooftop solar installations.
