ER, SER to run Puja special trains for festive crowd

Purbasthali: A girl from a Purbasthali village in East Burdwan won a gold medal in the Asian Yoga Championship in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Piyali Das, daughter of a wage labourer from Sardanga village in Purbasthali was accommodated in the Indian team as a participant after she'd qualified, winning gold in the sub-junior group championship held in Darjeeling on 7 July. In the Asian championship, Piyali defeated contenders from nine countries to win the gold.
With an increasing demand by passengers during the upcoming festive season, the Eastern and South Eastern Railways have decided to run Puja Special trains to cater to the huge rush.
In the Eastern Railway, the authorities have announced plans to operate special trains for Puja, Diwali and Chhath. The zonal railway has decided to run Puja Special train between Kolkata and Mau. The train will leave Mau at 1.30 p.m. on every Wednesday between 24 September and 12 October making eight trips during the period. It will reach Kolkata at 8 a.m. the next day.
