The Department of Women and Child Development suspended Bibekananda Bal, a member of the Child Welfare Committee (CWC), Jagatsinghpur on Monday for allegedly sexually harassing a 25-year-old woman NGO worker engaged in rescue and rehabilitation work.

Sources said the accused, Bal, was arrested and forwarded to court after a complaint was lodged by the victim. She alleged that Bal misused his power to sexually harass her repeatedly. An FIR has been lodged at Jagatsinghpur police station, and the police registered a case.
