CIL brings down production target, sets revised target at 788 MT

The State-run coal behemoth- Coal India Ltd has brought down its production target further and is now expected to produce 788 MT of coal in the current fiscal.

Initially the production target had been set at 838 MT and subsequently it was revised downward at 806-810 MT in January, this year. Interestingly, this year's revised target is slightly higher than last fiscal's actual production figure. In the last fiscal, CIL had produced 773.65 MT of coal. This was disclosed by P M Prasad, CIL Chairman, in Kolkata.

In the context of pricing, although coal prices have come down in the international markets, the CIL Chairman ruled out the possibility of bringing down prices in India.
