Centre sanctions two semiconductor projects for Odisha

The Union Cabinet on Tuesday approved four more semiconductor projects, two of which are to be set up in Odisha while Punjab and Andhra Pradesh get one each under the India Semiconductor Mission (ISM).
The four proposals approved for Odisha are SiCSem and 3D Glass Solutions, informed Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw at Delhi while briefing media persons after the cabinet meeting.
The CDIL will be in Punjab and ASIP in Andhra Pradesh.
These four approved proposals will set up semiconductor manufacturing facilities with cumulative investment of around Rs.4,600 crore and are expected to generate a cumulative employment for 2034 skilled professionals.
This takes the total approved projects under ISM to ten entailing investments of over Rs 1.60 lakh crore.
