Andhra Pradesh liquor scam's prime accused denies ties to seized cash

The Special Investigation Team (SIT) investigating the Rs 3500 crore liquor scam in Andhra Pradesh during the previous YSRCP regime unearthed and seized Rs 11 crore in cash from a farmhouse in Shamshabad on the outskirts of Hyderabad.
However, later in the day the prime accused, Kasireddy Raja Sekhar Reddy, filed an affidavit in the ACB Court in Vijayawada, denying that the seized cash belonged to him.
The cash was hidden in 12 cardboard boxes and then stored in the farmhouse and the SIT officials traced it after interrogating Varun Purushottam, designated as accused 40, during investigations. According to investigators, this was a breakthrough in the probe into the liquor scam, which has seen the arrest of several YSRCP leaders, including sitting MP PV Midhun Reddy.
