THE uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party has dismissed claims that they were considering to field the former Johannesburg Council Speaker, Colleen Makhubele, as the party's mayoral candidate.

Speaking to IOL, MKP spokesperson, Nhlamulo Ndhlela, said that they were far from even selecting candidates for the job, adding that they will shock everyone once they announce.

He said they were still assessing candidates who would be able to take up the role. "We are far from that and we are not going to rush the hype of political parties for their candidate. We are not rushing. We do a proper assessment and shock everybody," he said.
