Mayor unshaken by smear campaign

IT IS utterly appalling, yet unsurprising, that News 24 has seen fit to publish a grossly misleading and factually incorrect article alleging that the Mayor has “buried” the City Power financial report.

Despite being provided with a comprehensive explanation of the City’s governance process for financial reporting, the publication has chosen to pursue a reckless and sensationalist narrative that is nothing short of a malicious smear campaign.

The City categorically denies these baseless allegations, which are designed to destabilise and undermine the good work being done by the Executive Mayor and his team.

It is evident that News 24 has an agenda and is more interested in peddling falsehoods and fuelling misinformation than in engaging in responsible and factual journalism.

The Mayor remains unwavering in his commitment to building a city that we all want.
