Isak saga deepens as Shearer, Lineker weigh in

ALEXANDER Isak has broken his silence on his Newcastle United future, claiming his departure is now “in the best interests of everyone” as the £150 million (about R3.5 billion) transfer saga intensifies.

The Swedish striker, who finished as the English Premier League’s second-highest goalscorer last season, has been absent from preseason and missed the Magpies’ opening 0-0 draw with Aston Villa. Liverpool have already seen a £110 million offer rejected, with Newcastle holding out for a British record fee.

In a strongly worded Instagram post on Tuesday, Isak said: “I've kept quiet for a long time while others have spoken.

“That silence has allowed people to push their own version of events, even though they know it doesn’t reflect what was really said and agreed behind closed doors. The reality is that promises were made and the club has known my position for a long time.
