Van driver followed her down A53 and into town centre

- Sentinel Reporter

A VAN driver who repeatedly rammed a car being driven by a woman has been jailed.

Matthew Bailey, aged 34, had been drinking after taking medication when he drove 'very close' to the back of the car on the A53 towards Leek.

When the driver reached the crossroads to Leek and Cheddleton he rammed the back of her vehicle.

Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court heard Bailey, pictured, continued to ram her vehicle as she drove in a loop around Leek town centre.

Now he has been jailed for 21 months and banned from driving for four years.

Prosecutor James Hudson said the victim was driving on the A53 towards Leek at 10.55pm on October 12 last year.

At the time she was hands-free and talking to her dad.
