WISTASTON Village needed a Golden Over to secure the points in their NSSCL Division Eight home game against Newcastle & Hartshill fourths.

Jack Tomlinson’s 50 not out, which saw him hit seven fours, was allied to Leroy Maynard’s 28 and 25 from Henry Springthorpe, as Wistaston posted 166-7 after being asked to bat. Peter Leighton captured 3-21 for Castle and there were a couple of wickets for Oscar Abel.

Colin Keates led the Castle chase with 57, hitting eight fours in the process.

But Jack Edge and Will Stokes struck twice apiece to leave Castle on 166-8 - before Wistaston prevailed in the extra action.

Congleton’s Toby Miller struck a century in the third team’s home victory over Stafford fourths.
