VALE END DROUGHT, BUT IT'S ONLY A POINT ON THE ROAD

PORT
Vale hadn't scored a goal in six League One matches and then two came at once in an action-packed clash at Luton Town.Unfortunately for Darren Moore and more than 1,000 travelling fans, it wasn't enough to earn the team the three desperately-needed points they merited.
The cold facts are that Vale are now an extra point away from safety than at the start of day now seven points - while they have won just three matches out of 19 in League One.
They suffered further injuries too, with Funso Ojo and George Byers sustaining ankle injuries while Kyle John looked to have suffered the same late on as he was icing his leg as he sat on the subs' bench.
Dajuane Brown is said to have picked up a knock too while Jaheim Headley, magnificent on the day, managed to see out the game but was feeling the back of his left hamstring at one point.
They are the negatives but there was plenty to be encouraged about as Ben Waine and Devante Cole scored the goals in the team's best display in weeks.
This was an excellent performance from Vale, arguably up there as one of their best away performances of the season, and they looked far happier playing four at the back.
They will know they should have won the match.
It's almost unfair to pick out individuals because there were big performances all over the pitch but the likes of Byers, Waine, Ruari Paton, Cole, Headley, and Ben Heneghan were instrumental in Vale collecting a point.
The only problem is, draws are not good although there is so much football to play and if they can perform like this, results will come.
It was a rare occasion for Vale under Moore as he opted for the same starting XI following the 1-0 win against Bristol Rovers in the FA Cup.
That meant Ben Amos keeping his place in goal and Vale staying with a back four, with Waine - who would have been surprised at his own inclusion having been left out of league squads all season keeping his place too.
