Neighbours issued with parking fines want city council to ditch double-yellow lines and replace them with permit-only bays

- Jon Bamber

FAMILIES have petitioned a council in a bid to resolve their parking problems.

Residents in Eastwood Road, Hanley, are fed up with having nowhere to park and have received parking fines for leaving their cars on double-yellow lines.

Now they have launched the petition calling for Stoke-on-Trent City Council to allow them to have parking bays on Stubbs Lane, around the corner from their homes.

The two Stubbs Lane bays presently allow for 30 minutes parking with no return after two hours.

But the families say there is enough space to create three permit-only parking spaces instead. It costs £38.50-a-year for a residents’ parking permit.
