'Stunning' new look hailed as a 'showcase of talent'

A COMMUNITY mural created from artwork by schoolchildren has been unveiled at Whitfield Valley Centre as part of celebrations of Stoke-on-Trent's centenary.

Pupils from two city schools created artwork to celebrate their community, history and centenary year and the winning designs were turned into a mural by artist Gareth Williams.

The finished work was then revealed at a community event attended by Lord Mayor Councillor Steve Watkins.

Chell Area Family Action Group (CAFAG) coordinated the project which also involved Stoke-on-Trent City Council and city businesses.

As part of the work, missing bricks in the boundary wall were replaced and new surface boards installed on the side of the main building.
