Don't tell anyone... but former city library could soon embark on new chapter as an events venue
A HISTORIC former library building could be brought back into use as an events venue.
Plans have been submitted to turn the former Stoke Library in London Road into a private hire venue for weddings, corporate events and community gatherings.
The Grade II listed building, known for its iconic circular windows and William Shakespeare mosaic, is vacant. Stoke Library moved to the local service centre in South Wolfe Street in 2008, and the three-storey building was last used as a meditation centre.
Now developer Tariq Hussain is proposing a 'premium space' for events in Stoke, while helping to preserve one of its best-loved buildings.
