Public invited to event marking 80th anniversary of war's end

MEMBERS of the public are being invited to witness a special event marking the 80th anniversary of VJ Day in Staffordshire.

The National Memorial Arboretum is hosting a Service of Remembrance on Friday, August 15 to mark the day which signified the end of the Second World War.

As the national champion of Remembrance, the Royal British Legion, in partnership with the UK Government, will lead the nation on VJ Day with the arboretum service.

Access to this event at the base of the arboretum's iconic Armed Forces Memorial in Alrewas, will be strictly by invited event ticket only.
